Regions

Think of Yosemite as a collection of several parks. Each one more spectacular than the next.

  1. Tuolumne Meadows - A large, open sub-alpine meadow graced by the winding Tuolumne River and surrounded by majestic peaks and domes.
  2. Glacier Point - An overlook with a commanding view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome and the High Sierra.
  3. Yosemite Valley - Where you will find the most famous of Yosemite's natural wonders including Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls.
  4. Crane Flat - A pleasant forest and meadow area where you will find Yosemite's Secret Sequoias - the Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias
  5. Wawona and Mariposa Grove - Home to Native Americans for thousands of years this area is also known for its majestic (and old) giant sequoias.
  6. Hetch Hetchy Reservoir - Spectacular scenery and a lack of Yosemite Valley crowds make this a favorite starting point for backcountry trips.
