The Proposal
As many of you know, we have been doing quite a bit of kayaking the last few years, so what better way to get engaged than on the water! It was a beautiful sunny day last fall when I took Barbara out kayaking on the Potomac and proposed in front of the monuments.
On Sunday, October 5, 2003, Anatoly and I trekked down to the Potomac for a crisp morning paddle. We launched our kayaks at Gravelly Point, a favorite spot just above National Airport. As we made our way up river, we paddled by the
monuments exploring the nooks and crannies of the river's edges. We meandered on until we reached the Lincoln Memorial where we enjoyed a float break and a snack. Anatoly offered his trail mix to me and when I reached into his dry bag, I pulled out a little satin bag with a ring in it!
Following our paddle we ventured down to Potowmack Landing in the Washington Sailing Marina to celebrate with brunch and a bottle of champaigne.
